• Fixed-height transport tables

• Height-adjustable transport tables

Patient transport trolleys may feature fixed heights or allow height adjustment through manual or hydraulic mechanisms. Tables with hydraulic height adjustment are the easiest to operate, although they are generally more expensive.

To prevent patients from accidentally slipping, transport beds must be equipped with foldable side rails and headboards. Additionally, a directional wheel should be included to facilitate maneuvering, along with a locking mechanism to prevent unintended movement. If the bed does not have an individual drive lock, it is advisable to check whether it can be fitted with a central braking system, which is often available as a separate accessory.

More advanced models may allow for positioning in Trendelenburg and anti-Trendelenburg angles. Most also include an IV stand and a headrest, although these components can be added later through specialized suppliers. Additional accessories available for patient transport beds include, among others:
